Hi there! I’m Krysten. I’m the brains (and the beauty, wink wink) behind kp creative, a one-woman design and writing business. Because I think it’s important to know a little something about the people (or in this case, person) you’re working with, I’ve prepared an autobiography so you can get to know me. (Don’t worry, it’s abridged!)

Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, I began my venture into all things creative at a very young age. By age 6, I was a regular child prodigy, writing and designing my own personal newspaper. (My first big scoop was the birth of my brother, Andrew.) I spent my childhood using my imagination and creativity in any way I could. The newspaper gave way to a magazine, which was filled with articles I prepared by interviewing my ever-patient friends and family. The magazine eventually morphed into short stories, until I was finally penning my own dramatic novels, the pages of my self-published books decorated with my own colorful illustrations.

High school brought with it a position on the school newspaper’s staff, and I began my formal education in journalistic writing. I also discovered I had an affinity for photography as I learned how to use a manual camera and found my way around a darkroom. After receiving my hard-earned diploma, I took my creative efforts down to Athens, Ohio, where I attended Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. After three years of trying my hand at a range of writing styles (straight news to features to more creative fiction), I discovered another passion, this one for graphic design. I spent my senior year at OU soaking up as much design education and experience as I possibly could, which I accented with a year of graduate-level design classes through the Academy of Art University Online after receiving my B.S. in Magazine Journalism.

Now, two years later, I have been inspired by one of my closest friends to embark on a new—and, let’s face it, scary—journey: starting my own business. Thus kp creative, the culmination of the last 20-some years of my life, was born. It’s everything I love to do rolled into one great idea: a way for me to be creative, learn new things, meet new people, and help others to achieve their goals.

And the best part is, by letting me help you realize your dreams, you’ll be helping me realize mine.
